| It has been a while since I have blogged. I noticed just about everyone else has been slow at posting through the holidays. Definitely busy, but oh so worth it! For a quick recap…. Thanksgiving was awesome! I spent it with Michele, Brian, Amelia and Liam. I experienced my very first Black Friday shopping. That was insane, but when else can you dedicate a whole day to shop, spend money and hang out with the girls all day!!! I had an incredible time, including the indescribable joy of having your grandchildren crawling up in your bed and waking you up to play. Those little angelic, happy faces greeting you first thing in the morning is pure heaven! Then, there was Jeremiah’s homecoming. The months of worry, the void of not having him in your life, the pure agony of counting down the days until he would be shipped back to the states, out of harm’s way. After he finally arrived in the states, the military kept delaying his departure with the excuse of this meeting and that. God, it was torture, but he is home now. I wouldn’t let myself believe it was true until I got to actually put my arms around him and look him in his eyes. It was an awesome feeling! His lovely wife and sister planned a surprise “Welcome Home” party at Shogun and about 35 people showed up to honor Jeremiah and thank him for his service in Iraq. It was great and everyone had a good time. The weather turned bad, and I got iced in for a couple of days, which was fine with me…it just extended my time with the people I love most! Next was Christmas. Having Jeremiah home and safe, my loved ones, beautiful weather, and grandkids everywhere made it THE MOST SPECTACULAR CHRISTMAS EVER. The only thing that was missing that would have made it perfect in every way, was that my daughter Elizabeth, my granddaughter Abbey, along with her new husband Josh was not able to come down for the holidays. Since Elizabeth is 9 months pregnant, she and her new family spent Christmas in California. Yes, I am going to be blessed with yet another grandbaby and cannot wait for her arrival!!! I was blessed with a new digital camera from my secret Santa along with a brag book full of pictures to show off. (What good is a grandmother that can’t show off her kids and grandchildren!) Not only have I entered the digital age, my daughter, Michele, convinced me that I needed a cell phone and she added me to her plan. I CAN’T BELIEVE IT!! Now I have an unbelievable phone, a digital camera and a brag book. WOO HOO!! And of course we had to hit the malls again the day after Christmas, (we are women after all…shopping is in our genes!). We found a lot of incredible bargains including lots of smell good stuff, in which later resulted in my very first pedicure, compliments of Michele. All in all, I couldn’t have imagined better holidays in my wildest dreams! I am looking forward to the year 2009!

| OMG! What an incredible feeling when I stepped out of the door from work and looked up! I don't believe I have ever seen anything like it before! What I wouldn't have paid to have a camera at that moment! How many of you remember the feeling when people looked up in the movie INDEPENDENCE DAY when the huge aircraft "parked" right over their heads? Ok, now imagine that semi-circular, sharp edged, incomprehensibly large object obscuring all view of the sky, except for a small glimpse of blue ahead of it, is now right above YOUR head in real life. Believe me I would have run screaming, with my hands in the air, except that I was totally mesmorized! It had to have been one of the most beautiful sights I have ever seen. Instead of the detailed geometrically shaped designs on the outside of an alien spacecraft, as in the movie, the underbelly of my city sized object was a continuous bed of closely packed cotton balls of vibrant shades of pinks (or perhaps fuschia) and blues and the valleys between the "cotton balls" were a deep, dark blue-violet. I have seen beautiful sunsets before; yet, try to picture a sunset on steroids.Imagine these two pictures, superimposed, and exploding in vibrant colors!
It was due to a front that was going through just at sunset. I wish I could describe it well enough to do it justice. By the time I got home, which was only about 6 minutes, the colors had all changed and was subdued. It had transformed back into just a front.

| My son is serving our country in Iraq and I miss him so much. I know, I'm a goose, but I even kept 2 recordings that he left on my answering machine just so that I could listen to him every day! One message was before he left the country being his normal humorous self. It makes me laugh every time I hear it! The next one is when he called from Iraq to wish me a Happy Mother's Day. It's incredible how much you can miss someone and what a thrill it is when you hear their voice again!!! I just checked out all of the pictures Jeremiah has posted, but the greatest were the videos! The one titled "Smoked" where he was laughing the whole time he was doing his pushups made me roll on the floor. It was so good to hear that familiar laugh!!! God, I can't wait until he gets home again! Pray for our troops! I thought you might be interested in knowing what other message I have saved on my answering machine. It is when Amelia (my granddaughter) called me and left a message, including an "I love you, Grandma!" at the end. I love it and play it every day along with Jeremiah's messages! Life is good!

| I just read my daughter-in-law’s blog and I am outraged at one of the comments and yet comforted by the number of people that came to her defense. I too have been more than a little depressed and disappointed in the American people in their choice for President. Reading the unjustified outburst in one of the comments just reaffirmed my belief in the type of mentality that I assumed had swayed the outcome of the election; however I was not prepared for the overwhelming retaliation of so many strangers! That gives me renewed hope. Thank You!
All personal politics behind us; what is done is done; it is now our place to pray for our President-Elect and for peace in Jerusalem.
I often wanted to use blogging as a source of venting and getting my voice heard. I am proud that my son is fighting for his country however much I hate that he is intentionally putting himself in danger’s way! It is because of soldiers like him that we can enjoy the freedom that so many takes for granted! God bless our men in the military!
